BRASIL!!!!!!!

I love Brasil and that's the team I'm backing for advancement in the Cup. As much as a terrible tragedy it was to witness USA's loss to Ghana..I think USA did terrific and I hope they come back bigger and stronger in 4 years. However, you can't talk abut futbol and not talk about Brasil. The sport is pretty much the countrys' religion. And they sure as hell proved it today versing Chile.
3-0!! What a beautiful beautiful game!

I Heart Jerry Hall

Alright, alright. I realize I may have gotten bit by the World Cup bug and I'll assume that everyone doesn't HAVE to be a fan like me. (Although that's absolutely mind boggling because its the best sport ever!!) I'll return to scheduled programming for this post. I really really dig Jerry Hall. Apart from marrying THE Rolling Stone, she was just a wickedly stylish fox. If you want to be a wickedly stylish fox, head on over to Zanzabelle's Closet. Auctions end on Sunday night. Free gift with purchase ladies. Blogs can be used for shameless self promotion. You know you want too :)

Ole!Ole!Ole!Ole!

As expected, the World Cup has taken over my life. The entire weekend's events revolved around it. Especially(and surprisingly) the America vs. England game. Now, I'm not that incredibly patriotic person who will root for the team just because I live here and don't care whether or not the actual team can play. Saying that, I think most people did not expect the USA to even make it to the Cup let alone play England and actually TIE!!!!! Come on....soccer is barely a sport in the USA compared to giants such as baseball and basketball. I've never seen so many soccer fans ( or were they just USA fans??) in NYC in my life. It was unbelievable! It was as if I was in a country that actually gave a hoot about soccer!
We went to a wonderful beer garden and drank way too many pitchers of mojitos. We will be going back to that beer garden asap, since those mojitos sure did their job for $25. I will be on a massive search this week for jerseys and blowhorns. These are some of the photos that survived. They are terribly grainy due to it being taken on a phone after lots and lots of mojitos. The place was packed inside and out.

On another note, I've decided to profile new and exciting designers from various countries playing in the World Cup:)
I'll make it like a grab bag lotto...whichever game is on, I'll pick that country and go from there. NETHERLANDS!
Amsterdam has their own International Fashion Week taking place in July 14-18. One particular designer that's kinda got my head spinning is Bibi van der Velden. Her pieces are dubbed "Wearable Works of Art" . Don't forget to take a look at Zanzabelle's Closet, where I have a bunch of auctions ending this week.

WAKA WAKA

Ok...so the first game of the World Cup is coming up in 30 minutes and I am super excited! Going with the theme of the week, I decided to explore the fashions of South Africa. They have their very own fashion week(Joburg Fashion Week) which is climbing it's way up in terms of global recognition. Three designers particularly stood out for me, and those were SODA, Bianca Warren and Mantsho. These are brilliant, new visionaries in the world of South African fashion that are definately worth following!

WORLD CUP 2010

Living in America, it's a little hard to find the excitement you would find in South America or Europe when it comes to World Cup Fever. I've been fed soccer as a vitamin since I was born so I cannot wait till Friday, when World Cup 2010 kicks off. There's so much energy, so many thrills, and lots and lots of caipirinhas! Mojitos too. Yeah, we're too fancy for our own good...no beer for us. I look forward to being glued to my telly for a month. If you're new to soccer, you could probably hang out till the last part of the Cup where it gets really hardcore. My money is on Brazil or Spain. And also...don't forget to get some shopping in : Zanzabelle's Closet

"Everybody's youth is a dream, a form of chemical madness."

No writer has inspired me more than F.Scott Fitzgerald. I'm sure everyone has read The Great Gatsby, but one of his lesser known works is a book of short stories called Flappers and Philosophers. It's one of the greatest short story books of all time. The glitz and glamour along with the perils of living in the Roaring 20's are captured impeccably by his novels. And yes, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was written as a short story by F. Scott. His talent remains limitless.

I Heart Russell Brand

It's been a long long time since I can honestly say that I've genuinely warmed to a celebrity, let alone a comedian. I hope that Russell Brand sticks around for awhile. If you haven't yet already, get your butts to see GET HIM TO THE GREEK and you'll laugh your a$$ off. And I'm talking actual laughing, where your belly aches a little bit afterwards.
ps. He's also got that 70's rockstar aura happenin and that's always a good thing
